Desenzano del Garda at a glance
Desenzano del Garda lies on the south shore of Lake Garda, in the province of Brescia in Lombardy. It has about 29,000 residents. It is easy to reach without a car: the station Desenzano del Garda-Sirmione is on the Milan to Venice line, and the A4 motorway has an exit for the town.
The harbour is the starting point of the passenger boat line to Peschiera del Garda and Riva. A Roman villa lies a 15 minute walk from the station. Sirmione is only 9 kilometres away, which makes Desenzano a convenient base for the south shore.
